"What do people who consistently extend an assumption of generosity toward others share in common? They have a disciplined practice of setting, maintaining, & respecting boundaries." -Brene Brown In today’s fast-paced and demanding work environments, setting and maintaining healthy boundaries is essential for long-term well-being and professional effectiveness. This can be especially hard for nonprofit professionals who are focused on helping. Can you have boundaries and still be compassionate to clients and coworkers? Sara Schairer, who holds a certificate in Compassion Cultivation Training from Stanford University, says YES! In Sara's interactive workshop, participants will explore seven types of boundaries and reflect on where their own boundaries may need strengthening. Through discussion and a guided exercise, participants will also practice the art of saying “no” with clarity and compassion. Attendees will leave with greater awareness and actionable tools to set boundaries that support their personal resilience, workplace success, and effectiveness as leaders. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify and describe the seven types of boundaries and how they show up in daily life.
- Reflect on your current boundary-setting habits and recognize areas for growth.
- Understand the impact of healthy boundaries on well-being, relationships, and workplace effectiveness.
- Practice using respectful and compassionate language to say “no” in challenging situations.
- Develop personalized strategies for setting and maintaining boundaries with greater confidence and clarity.
